Hello!

My name is Tanja and I am an Artist. I was born in 1998 in the quaint municipality of Balgach, Switzerland. My educational journey led me to Altstätten, where I had the privilege of experiencing a specialized artistic enrichment program during my school years.

At the age of 15, I proudly presented my first art exhibition at BalgArt, marking the beginning of a series of exhibition in Rheineck, St. Gallen and Goldach. Followed by my apprenticeship as a textile designer, my academic path shifted towards animation studies at the University of Design and Art in Lucerne.

Having completed my degree in 2022, I furthered my studies in Ludwigsburg
(Germany), where I recently graduated with a master’s degree in animation at the renowned
Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. For my final project, I explored the intersection of analog technology and film. Now, having completed my studies, I am working independently as a freelance artist.

Artist Statement

My artistic practice centers on an intense exploration of physicality. What began as a fascination with human and animal bodies their beauty, extremity, and occasional absurdity, has evolved into a focused engagement with the female body and its lived experiences. Today, it forms the core of my work, which addresses themes of femininity and feminism. I am drawn to the capabilities of the female body: the emotions it carries, the ways it expresses itself, and the extremes it endures. Femininity encompasses intimacy, vulnerability, transformation, and strength, from the sensuality of sexual encounter to the profound physical experience of childbirth. Through my work, I invite viewers to reflect on their own embodied experiences. What does closeness feel like? How do we relate to our own bodies? I aim not only to depict these questions visually, but to make them palpable.

Working in watercolor and acrylic, I employ a photorealistic style that lends beauty to moments that may unsettle, provoke, or challenge. The tactile presence of skin, fur, and moisture becomes
a central visual language, texture as emotion, surface as sensation. While my practice is closely connected to feminist discourse, at its heart it is a deeply personal expression: an attempt to articulate my feelings as a woman and render them tangible for others.
